We all know that Aryabhatta (or Aryabhata) was from Bihar
and one of the greatest mathematician and astronomer the world has ever known. But
he remains an enigma and continues to intrigue us to this day. There are lots of
things that we don’t know about this great person. For instance, we don’t know who
his parents where, his name is also a topic of discussion, was he a Brahman, or
was he a Buddhist, was he from Bihar or was he from Kerala, what did he look
like. There are too many questions than answers.

We do know that he was supposed to be the head of the maths and
astronomy department of university at Nalanda (Bihar). We do not what he looked
like but here are some images of Aryabhatta that we think that he might have
looked like. Remember these images of Aryabhatta are just a representation. We
do not know if he wore a “janau” of if he wore dhoti, its mere speculation.
