Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Tuesday called for the implementation of an awareness campaign to make people quake-resistant houses built for themselves in order to mitigate the effects of earthquakes.
Response of the sixth session of Bihar Disaster Management Authority (BDMA), Kumar said it is observed that the earthquake destroyed homes and related structures and cause major collateral damage model, consisting of loss of lives and properties.
To mitigate the effects of the earthquake, an awareness campaign should be conducted on people to build earthquake-resistant houses to mitigate the impact of natural disasters, he said.
The engineers and workers at construction work should be properly trained to build earthquake-resistant structures, said Kumar.
