“Let him hit the first stone who has done no wrong.” Is what I have learnt as a kid like most of us.
Anna and his fasting is not something new but then we would hear it in local news in small columns which could go unnoticed most of the times. Anna in Delhi has swept the nation by storm. The nation had read about too many scams and was disappointed ,tired and kind of fed up. Anyone who would have stood againstthis corruption campaign would have got the support as it was like an anchor to a rocking ship.
Media also needed to witness some change thus they were there to cover it all.
As a Indian my heart too bleeds for my country and my heart repels corruption and wants what is best for my belovedcountry. It takes two to tango, and two to clap and so does corruption it can thrive only when there is someone to need something and someone to gain something. Let us all see the mirror and then throw the first stone so every one who is pledging support and who has never been a part of the system?? Then I first need to salute each and all. The roots are deep seeded this we all know.
This effort is a great one but then why point fingers at our elected government is what my mind seeks to know ?? Is there more than just corruption one wants to deal with ???
Why not wait and topple the government? Why not crusade against the government when the time is right and why not bring in fresh candidates if need or is that not possible???? Why show the whole world we have a corrupt government ??Then why blame Pakistan when they do not settle on issues with us ??
As we have the freedom of speech, we also have freedom to question even a social activist no matter who he or she is? This is what I know about democracy. Shabanaji said if anyone doubt Annas moves then it will not go well with the country men ? Well is that a way of saying this is what we will do and no one should question?? Is this democracy?? She is a lady with power so her support is important and me a common man is lost in this game of power ???
Today, I am surfing through the well know newspapers articles stating the opinion of our political leaders and other authors, thatAnna is simply playing with the emotions in a form of blackmail with the masses and I have come to this conclusion that Anna Hazare playing the role of Gandhi (as the media has projected him to be), nothing more dangerous for the democracy. A socialactivist does not mean he or she has gained the right not to be questioned or he or she has got a stamp of being above all? This has left me further in a complete state of confusion. A social activist is vocal about his aversions on an issue but does that mean the ones who are silent as less patriotic ??
Dr Kiran Bedi has fought corruption and set an example for our youth and the nation. We always learn seeing more than being told. People like her make our country proud, people like her have a firm way of dealing with corruption no matter what.
This country is ours, this government is ours and we have the right to bring changes or demand changes if they disappoint us . I understand that I have my rights to voice my concerns as Tariq Anwar quoted in Hindu “Every citizen of the country has the democratic right to exert pressure on the Center for conceding one’s demand…but not the kind of pressure Hazare thrust upon the Center”.
This is kind of washing dirty linen in public, is it? Well if we go by the proverb then it is, but if it solves a problem then we all should do this from now on at all levels of Cultural Revolution.
The issue of corruption “The Magnitude of Corruption” is a different issue and as a society we should seriously take some action upon it. We teach our children there is no one above law, we teach our kids we elect the government and vote wisely. How do I reply, when I am asked” why not use the other option(s) or methods by which not to elect the corrupt leaders?” Why coerceto have your way as we all know that coercion will never allow a democracy to flourish?
When my nephew asked me Anna Hazare has no personal gains, no personal aspirations? why is Anna Hazare playing on the emotions of the public who are discontent against the corruption and he knows that his family will not take any advantage of this power ever? This is Middle Class India’s dream with simple citizen with simple questions and observations.
Well, I have no answers to all this thus I keep my silence on each and all.
My article could be lost in this storm which has swept the country like a tsunami and I may sound politically incorrect in midst of this wave but to me as an Indian who has read so much on it has left me with many jumbled up thoughts in my mind. Will this bill help me and my generation next ??Will this bill be a tool to end corruption?? Thus this bill have hidden disadvantages ??Does this bill give powers to some ???
Harshad Mehta was considered as a wiz untill unfolded. We allhave bought stocks which Mehta also bought in the hope of profittill it was all crashed.
Ketan Mehta was considered a genius in investment fraternity until unfolded.
Shiny Ahuja who was adored, I too loved his acting and then he was dropped on ground by the same media when the news of the rape came out.
Ambey valley the beautiful man made hill station had its hiccups too though now all seem well at that front
Hasan Ali used to be respected and surrounded by ardent race goers until unfolded…. Today if one sees his wife they cross the road and avoid facing her …….Oh! As a citizen of this nation I have seen many bubbles burst. …… my heart is still not secured.I feel my right to question is being taken or compromised to question Anna Hazare or the supporters! I feel that government has committed a huge mistake by giving in to the demands and setting a president .What if this bill is just a victory of Anna and not the country ??
Anna's restlessness to join the committee is not something that is going well with many.
As a citizen I have all these questions in mind with a dark tunnel where I see no answers. As the whole nation supports do I have to blindly support this movement? Is support a display of patriotism ??? Will I be thrashed If I do not believe that this is good for my nation? I as an Indian am worried still.....
