Takes and Fate of JLP movement

Naysayers had their say as well as the optimists. Doubters have their way as do the doers. Attention seekers did their duty religiously as did the faceless crowed. Through all these pangs of ifs & buts, us and them, masses and classes, plain and double speak, genuine and guile, has come out the mutually agreed conditional commitment from parliament to legislate a strong and comprehensive Lokpal.

Process of deliberating on various drafts, taking views from myriad sections of… Continue

The Uprising : We the People

We are witnessing a massive upsurge in people sentiment against establishment. These are the people who never have time to fume over widespread corruption they deal with in their daily life but move ahead with the motion, for they have to see the other day through. Dissatisfaction and frustration bubbles up and hastily gobbled up with a sense of remorse telling what can an individual do against the system – a fait accompli termed as middle class. Humm… an abuse or common pragmatic way of life?!… Continue

Lives and times: Today!

This is a beautiful presentation I could not cease on the temptation to share it with you. It is a telling narration on virtues of contemporary humanity. Yes, it changes it's definitions and meanings at times. See for ourselves if these perspectives are true to present times.

Greatness Scale: Snake & Ladder Game

Saturday, Jan 1st 2011. Start of a new year, a new decade even. We had a picnic in the park. Children from the colony gathered together to celebrate the first day of the new decade. Families from the colony were together to enjoy, to have fun, to start a new beginning.

Children lovingly served soup and starter to all of us. After a few minutes chat, the kids were burning the Old Man, the symbolic presentation. May be symbolic demolition of old bad habits to start fresh. May be with…

YouBihar : A journey together

Dear fellow members,

It has been long since we had an open diaglog last. Many new members have joined the road since. Many have identified themselves with their signature posts and comments. Many a member have been overwhelming while few have developed particular distatste and liking for each other. Many have been patient in their comments while a few have vented ire in best ever way they could frame expletives. Site is witness to many a friendship as well as enmity in making…

Naxalism: A rebellion or indulgence?

It is immature to ask whether the naxalites be invested with authority to govern states. Lets ask ourselves: Who should govern the state? Those who align themselves with the collective wisdom enshrined in our constitution. And mind you, we are sovereign state which is not ruled by some foreign constitution.…

Development of Bihar: Organic or Inorganic?

Is Bihar itching to come out of pupa? There is perception for sure and needs the thrust to escape from the inertia. It has remained dormant for long and in contrasts to…

Where do we see YouBihar heading!

A lot of hoopla and brouhaha did the rounds in the run-up to the Bihar general election, 2010. YouBihar had a fare share of this cacophony. And why not, given the fact that this site is of the Biharies, for the Biharies and by the Biharies. Spilled beans are evident on the pages of this site, with debates on issues and persons alike.

A month hence, state general elections are over and hopefully we have a new elected government in place. The final result will be in consonance with some and… Continue

Get rid of Bihar and Biharies!

Repeat a Hiroshima or Nagasaki, right here in Bihar. Shift delete it from the earth map. With this act, there will be no rot left on the earth. World community will be able to do away with this blot on it's white.

Only thing I worry most that people will be left with no Bihar to reminisce and narrate of their so called worse experiences in Bihar and will have to look for another address to mock at. I do suggest, in the meanwhile, all the ills on earth can be redefined and…

Rule 49 O: Conduct of Election Rules'1961

We have grown up without knowledge of existence of this powerful tool in the hands of the electorate.

It says: "In a particular constituency, if a voter has dislike to all of the candidates competing there, then he can show his dislike to all of them by registering for…

Yes, professionals do owe to the system in Bihar

All are welcome with their definitions and understandings.

If asked to me, professionalism is about honouring your commitment, without excuses or pretence and standing for failures without shifting blames. That is how professionals make great leaders. Misconception is that people…

Mandatory duties of men !!

In the world of romance, one single rule applies to men: Make the woman happy. Do something she likes, and you get points. Do something she dislikes and points are subtracted. You don't get any points for doing something she expects. Sorry, that's the way the game is played. Here is a guide to the point system:

SIMPLE DUTIES

You make the bed (+1)

You make the bed, but forget the decorative pillow (0)

You throw the bedspread over rumpled sheets…

One line humour......

1. Regular naps prevent old age, especially while driving.

2. One child makes you a parent; two and you are a referee.

3. In marriage, one person is always right and the other is husband.

4. We should all pay our tax with a smile. I tried, but they wanted cash.

5. A child's growth is most in the month after you've purchased new school uniforms.

6. Don't feel bad. A lot of people have no talent.

7. Don't marry the person you want… Continue

Copy + Paste sans reference!

A very large majority of members hardly write anything. Whenever they write, it is in few lines or a short paragraph. But it is respectful. They are true to themselves.

Further, there are two categories that are in very small minority.

One of these is self thinking, puts in time and life experiences to write his/her mind out. Their views may not be in line with each other. And hence it leads to healthy debate. They enjoy differences and agreement alike. Hats off to them.… Continue

One day I decided to quit......

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. .. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. 'God', I said. 'Can you give me one good reason not to quit?'

His answer surprised me... 'Look around', He said. 'Do you see the fern and the bamboo?' 'Yes', I replied.

He said again, "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The…

Shall I pause and ask if I am heading right!

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgement; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive… Continue
