Bihar Public Service Commission was established on 1949, under the provisions of Article 315 of the Constitution of India.
The Bihar Public Service Commission conducts recruitment tests for appointment of the civil judge under the Sub-ordinate Judicial Service, whereas appointment to the Superior Judicial Service for the post of Additional District Judge is usually made by the high court either by promotion from sub-ordinate judicial service or directly from the Bar.
During the Laloo Prasad Yadav era chief, Urdu was allowed as one of the languages to be used for the Bihar Public Service Commission exams. At that time JD-U leader Shivanand Tiwari said that under the Laloo regime, exams of the Bihar Public Service Commission to fill up statutory executive posts such as deputy superintendents of police and deputy collectors had not been held for five years. During the same time competed for a gazetted post in Bihar Public Service Commission and it was during this period of his service at Bhagalpur, Bihar government today announced reservation for backward classes in state judicial services conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). However corruption and nepotism was the order of the day during that time.
In a relief to students who qualified the Bihar Public Service Commissions PT exam, at Patna, the high court allowed the Commission's plea to hold the mains exam. “We have asked the Bihar Public Service Commission to initiate the recruitment process of 2,132 doctors specialising in these four disciplines,” the Health Minister said.
Recently the Bihar Public Service Commission Chairman Ramsinghasan Singh, its Deputy Secretary, member and six other employees were arrested today on charges of forgery, cheating and indulging in corrupt practices.
