The recent controversial comments of chairman, PCI that in Sri Nitish Kumar's rule there is no freedom to press. One thing should be known to eminent persons such as chairman PCI that freedom of speech covers freedom of press. Freedom of speech/expression by an individual is more important than that of press. Press/media is industry and it's propriter use it as business and can plant stories. In Nitish kumar's rule there is total freedom of speech. a few employees fired by the media owner does not means Government control. One can see every day regional media airing many problems conserning common people. Criticising government, CM, Ministirs and Public servants is order of the day. Many sharp/ sercastic comments on susasn(good Governance as claimed) are aired freely. Comparing freedom of speech enjoys by people of Bihar now with that of Lalu-Rabri time and saying it was better from present is actully contempt of people of Bihar. It seems progress of Bihar in all fields is not acceptable to those living in national Capital at Tax Payer's expence. I invite openions from the members.

Permalink Reply by Sangeet Jha on February 27, 2012 at 5:34pm Justice Katju knows how to make news. Any publicity is a good publicity for him. Where is the the evidence?.
By this episode of Justice Katju, do I feel sad ? Or do I feel disgusted ? Or even sorry. I don't feel any of these. I feel really worried. Our polititicians took care of our education system in Bihar that led to the churning out of half educated Biharis. These people are easy to govern, ready to be brainwashed at the drop of the hat. They become gullible too.
And that is exactly what is happening in the aftermath of Justice Katju affair. Our Bihari people are not exposed to true newspapers. They do not watch credible 24/7 news channel Therefore they have no idea what a free press and freedom of expression means. As such, they should be forgiven or posting comments questioning Justice Katju. These idiots, therefore, unsurprisingly fail to see that the very behavior of B.N. College Principal, whose wife is a ruling party MLA, was intolerance to free speech. I know what freedom of expression is, having lived and studied for my MA degree at Brown University in New York., a few months in UK and Germany. For a year I worked in Dubai, saw Bahrain, Kuwait. Now on business trip I see SE Asia. Of all people I am in better position to say. No, we do not have freedom of expression as compared to real democracies.
Coming to Bihar and its news media. Anyone with little intelligence will say after looking at newspaper and TV media that they are all sycophantic. See the am mount of government advertisements. See the larger adverts bearing photo of Nitish, Modi and a minister or two praising someone or themselves. Who pays ? And why ? What purpose it serve ? Who benefit from these advertisements ?
I have been lucky in my education and stint abroad. So I am able to understand. That is why I only live a few days in my beloved Khagaul every month. But I don't buy papers, I don't watch TV

Permalink Reply by Rajan Tiwari on February 28, 2012 at 9:13pm What about his own censoring of media when he wanted the electronic media to show better than what they are showing and dictating the terms and conditions for their programmes. He mentioned about the "transitional phase" through which the country is passing. Same is the case with Bihar. The state is passing through a phase where country needs to know the best things happening in Bihar and not the 15 years of misrule and mismanagement which has given Bihar and Bihari an identiy of being corrupt and poor. Those 15 years has created the level of corruption and poverty because of which certain anti-social and corrupt people still take their all wrong activities for granted and by giving publicity to them we will make the people of Bihar insecure everywhere in country.
