as per as i am concerned i think saying that biharis dont get the kind of respect they deserve will be wrong bcz in my accordance those biharis who compromise with situations dont get but those who r smart to get their right as well as they actually deserve always get,weather in the field of education,research,jobs or in gundagardi.also one thing that in older 15 yrs the image of bihar was very poor due to corrupt politicians,it might be one of the reason but right now the time is changing and it seems that in coming days we will get what we actually deserve, we will rock as our journey in this site started 5 yrs ago.wising all my bihari friends all the best,whatever u do,do with confidence,it is the first step in the direction of success.thanks all and my spl thanks to mrs anita for posting this discussion

Coz we are not stylish...As i think,We should work on our language n dressing sense.
I feel that we are far behind in fashion with respect to others....

Respect is meant for superior whether they are Biharis or Keralite. Your topic is misleading the meaning of 'respect' and in the other word you are disgracing your own status. If you are superior in all the senses, you will get respect but being inferior you can not expect to get respect. This is foolish propaganda. I totally disagree to this.

This is all in our mind I am proud of bihari and seen all the places where we as a bihari get more respect than any other's state people.

Title of this forum is wrong. Instead of "Respect", it should have been " Attention". You give respect to someone elder or one who is far superirio to you in intellect, achievements, accomplishment and wealth. A twenty, thirtysomething Bihari is just a greenhorn, immature and can never ever command respect of anyone, including me.

One attract attention by their honesty, work ethics, sincerity, time keeping, professionalism and speech. I see here our Bihari bhai log running down Europeans and Americans. But they have no scruple in taking their money and workiing at unsocial hours in call centres around India. Tell me, what does it tell about their character ? Apney yehaan kahtey hain ki jis pattal mey khaa rahey hain oosi mey ched bhi kar rahey hain. In the West, they call it to bite the hands that feed. I am not saying start praising . I am saying give a suitable, honourable answer.

We Biharis are too talkative and talk - no boast- a lot. Once we open our mouth, our inside is out for all to see and form opinion. So, we Biharis should be men/women of few words. That create a mystique. This hides many of our shortcomings.

So, think and think hard, and change. Get rid of things other people make fun of us.

Then see how much universal attention we command.
