The world has become poorer with your death, Kaka! You were much more than just a superstar. You were a phenomenon, a legend. Stars & superstars will come and go, but there won't be another Rajesh Khanna--that's for sure.

Permalink Reply by sanjay kumar pandey on July 20, 2012 at 11:26am Long before the likes of Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar gave a few hits in a row to be declared the next Superstar, Kaka delivered a mind-blowing 15 hits in a row--certainly not a mean achievement; in fact, I really doubt if any actor across the whole world is capable of accomplishing such an amazing feat.
Khanna ji came at a time when people were fed up with Big Three ( Dilip, Dev and Raj),and Medium 5 stars(Rajender, Manoj, Sunil, Dharmender and Shammi). Good looking Khanna had his own style of lover boy. It was all new and very fresh. A combination of good directors, singer, story writes and music directors help propel him to superstardom. But with limited talent, one can only go that far..and no more. So, when more varied and demanding roles came, his limited talent deserted him. He was not in the same category as Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Sunil Dutt, Balraj Sahni or Amitabh Bacchan. But what really was his unmaking, was his nature. He became arrogant, fought with his benefactors, became alcoholic and unreliable. As a man, he was flawed. Left his wife and small kids for younger women. It isstated that when Amitabh got all attention and credits for his acting prowess in the film NAMAKHARAM, he got so upsetand depressed that he shut himself in a room and drunk for weeks and weeks. His spectacular rise to superstardom was followed by equally spectacular fall in no time. He never accepted or reconciled his fall and always believed himself to be superstar. But the followers, fan, admirers, sycophants, producers and directors all deserted him. His house had no hangers on in drawing room, and no wife and children in living room. A lonely Rajesh Khanna shut himselfin his big house and drank himself to death. From various articles, youtube and news items, it is guessed that he died of cancer of either stomach, liver or pancreas. He was only 69 yrs. old. What a waste of life. You can read a lot about him in Wi Ki. Google "Rajesh Khanna" and read in wi ki.

Miss Gupta. A person is like a coin. As coin has two sides, so a person too has two sides. When you look at a coin, you look on both sides. Same way one must look at a person as a whole, not one side. Do you understand ?

Permalink Reply by Rohini on July 21, 2012 at 1:54am He was a great actor. We used to watch his movies on sunday evenings. it was always nice to know that one of this films would be one. He was the first superstar of india.
Permalink Reply by sanjay kumar pandey on July 21, 2012 at 9:09am Mr Lal, I don't agree very much with you. Here, we are concerned with Rajesh Khanna, the actor; and not Rajesh Khanna, the human being. We all have weak points and so had Kaka. Before we criticize the departed soul for his alleged weak spots, don't you think we must look inside our own selves first? Jisne paap na kya ho.... Watch this song! This is from a Rajesh Khanna film and you will understand what I am trying to impress upon here.
