way, ANTARDWAND, too brings to light the social evil that plagues Rural India,

marriages wreak huge emotional damage on both the girl and the boy. Kalpana
says, I am more for the voiceless girl who is deeply entrenched in a male
dominated feudalistic society where she has nothing else to fall back on.

Whether deserted or divorced -the life of a hapless girl in such a claustrophobic society becomes a hellish and endless journey. She bears the stigma of 'being married but not married'.

It is a story where everyone involved, pay a heavy price for the ugly patriarchal power play…it’s a society rotting while the country surges ahead to be a global power.

Groom abduction or “Pakrauah Shaddi” is so rampant in Bihar & Eastern UP and is touched upon in Antardwand. The film is very realistic, well made film, and more ever
it’s a true story, which makes it more interesting….It brings to light that
these unfortunate incidents still happen in India…True stories truly inspires
me more than anything else. The true story in the film should be
highlighted”…This film is getting big thumbs up from the A plus film fraternity
in Bollywood.

When her other film ‘Saanncha’ was selected for The Cannes Film Festival, it added one more feather to her cap and proved a sort of milestone in her artistic career.

In one of her recent interviews Kalpana has confessed herself in these words, "In the beginning of my career as a playback singer, I had been lending my voice to all type of songs for films and
albums, but I had an appetite for art films. This is a must listen song.With
time, my maturity also went on increasing, along with my ambition for singing
for movies which has a message of social cause.

Says Kalpana, these films has burning social problems of the society.

Subtle diplomacy. Keeping neutral is a virtue that is scantily excercised. No regrets for sympathies and thanks for letting free of ‘crime’.

Yes, every celebrity carrys some weight with him/her that helps a cause in one way or the other.

Having said that, the only purpose of this site is to bring in opinion of fellow Biharis, wise or otherwise. To me, there is no gain, commercial or otherwise envisaged from this community service. This is evident from the fact that there is no advertising pages or pop-ups on this site.

After your one liner, I am dying to find out in what way(s) a celebrity member(s) is going to benefit this site or the creator? I would be oblised if I am helped to find one.

Playful sarcasm is not a good prescription for open forum. Lets maintain sanity and accommodate.

Please note that if any discussion subject not related to the body of that particular topic of dicussion must not be allowed to come on the screen. This is just gross insult to other members.In discussion matter, we would be happy to discuss related to promotional aspect of Ms.Kalpana but just giving subject a very emphatic approach and body is nothing but promotional matter which is not acceptable to any one here as I read point of view of every one commented. Thank u kalpana ji for atleast providing a link, but the link has just statement by the director of the movie. So i thought of investigating this matter on my own (of course only using google).

And ppl u know what, to my utter surprise she is correct.And i have no regret in confessing that i was wrong when i said such practice is a past thing. Actually the reason that we don't hear about such incidents is 1. They happen mostly in villages which is not priority of our news channels. 2. I came to know that such incidents are more than common thing in bihar that now no news channel cares. I am providing a link below which clear doubts further, i wish kalpana ji would have found this link.

@ Mohit--- Nice investigation,i appreciate it. It would have been done by those who were protesting. Anyway, I went thru the link i came across this----

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in India Report 2007 suggests that of the total 27,561 cases of abduction reported across the country in 2007, nearly 47 per cent were for marriage.

so worked a bit of maths here[ 47 % of 27561, that is 12,953] is the no. of abduction done so far ALL OVER THE COUNTRY for marriage purpose. Still the only reason the movie in based on bihar is not coz that it registered the largest no. of cases( due to good governance,b4 we all know that bihar police is known for not registering cases.) the reason is IT IS BIHAR. Only bihar can ensure response from TRP hungry media,which the director and producers might be looking for.

@prabhakar, I also witnessed one. One of my friends was getting married and I joined his marriage along with our troop of friends. In the marriage, after feast I and some of my freinds went to sleep and some preferred to watch the ceremony. One of the guy who was my friends friend became prey of this ugly accident. Some of 'the Dabangs' of that place thought him a good prey to cast their net upon him and forcefully married him to a girl of that village. This news spread like a fire in wild in the village of the boy where he lived. The victims parents were not accepting the bride as their daughter-in-law but after persuasion of the people and her parents they had no choice but accepting her.

I am feeling so sorry for him. Poor chap.
