Hmmmmm ....
Well, my friends, I am sorry to inform you that Krishi Kranti Party (KKP) train had come to a halt sometime in last December. It is very easy to get carried away and assume that, like a typical politician I promised everything and delivered nothing. Not my style boss!. The truth is that somebody pulled the plug (chain) and we lost all the steam. Fissssssssssssssss.
But don’t worry. KKP is down but not out.
Kisne kiya aesa paap? Obviously yeh koi Indian to nahi ho sakta. Pease keep reading to know what happened.
On November 28th, 2011 we (KKP) had scheduled a meeting with Dr. Ajay Kumar from London, who was in Patna. It was a disaster in many ways. I had made all the arrangements and reserved a conference hall in Maurya Hotel, the best we have in Patna. My boys were very excited about the meeting. I had promised them that Dr. Saheb is very resourceful and if he joined our party, we will get instant recognition. When we reached his residence, a very glum looking Dr. Saheb informed us that he is not allowed to engage in politics in India, or as a matter of fact in any country except England as he is a British citizen, and a member of the Conservative party, apparently.
He added that his daughter had called from London, and advised him to keep hands-off from politics and politicians. She had called only the previous night, so he could not inform us on time. We did our best to convince him, but he did not budge. Though he did not come, he was kind enough to share some of his time and knowledge at his home. He went through our manifesto and looked impressed.
Some of his critical comments are here -
1] It seems you are fond of Tiranga, as I can see it on your visiting card and also on your website www.krishikrantiparty.com. Unfortunately it is a congress symbol, so get your party a unique and colourful flag like they have in the European countries or may be even the Australian flag.
2] Mr. Anna Hazare is NOT a good role model. He is black-mailing a democratically elected government and setting a bad precedent for future generations.
3] You should change the party's symbol from PEN to something else. PEN is the mightiest weapon in the world, I argued. Only, for the educated class, he countered. Most of India still lives in villages, where there is no electricity, no schools, no PEN.
4] Abandon your luxurious car and start roaming on foot or may be a bicycle. It will help you connect to people more easily. I didn't tell him that I had rented the car for him.
5] Reservation was one of the reasons why I left India, long time back. Don't take it otherwise, but I am not a stubborn Pundit like you, I am an ever practical Lalaji. Actually I am glad to know that you are against reservations. But you will never win in elections. The best way is to encourage inter-caste or love-marriage, but these Indians are so backward they will hang you if you do that. Promoting love-marriage in India will ruin your political career forever. So there is no solution to this problem.
Ouch! Was that a slap on my face? Don't answer that!
Frankly speaking, I was not convinced with any his comments, but I kept mum, and didn't let Dr. Saheb know about my feelings. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion, so Dr. Saheb’s slap (comments) didn’t hurt me at all.
The real problem was that in all about 20,000 rupees went down the drain, in a flash. Due to lagan (auspicious days for marriage) there was huge demand for halls in every hotel in Patna. We had to pay Rs. 12000 as the rental charge for the conference hall, which was more than double the normal charges. Another 2000 had already been paid for snacks and lunch. We had also rented a car to bring Dr. Saheb and then drop him later. Dr. Saheb had promised to pay all the expenses. But we thought it would be very rude and un-Indian to ask our British guest to pay. Considering that I am unemployed, the financial loss was significant but not insurmountable. The real loss was the loss of face and credibility in the eyes of my boys. That was unbearable, indeed. I immediately cancelled our tour to Ralegan Siddhi, and the scheduled meeting with Anna Hazare. I cannot afford to waste any more money, until we have means to generate more. I decided to concentrate on my company and continue to engage in social work, as discreetly as possible.
But the worst was yet to come. My ordeal had just begun. It’s a long story, so I will leave it for another blog (coming next).
For the time being, can you answer this question?
George Bernard had said – “Politics is the last refuge for the scoundrels”. Now can you tell me if a self-proclaimed honest man like me have any future in politics? Do you think I should stop indulging in politics altogether? Your response will decide whether KKP is just down or out as well. I know most of you people want me to win. But who, I am just eager to know, before I start my lecture again.
Note1: Sorry for this delay in informing you. Basically I don’t like showing my wounds, until I have fully recovered. I hope you will understand that.
Note2: The quote at the top of this post might make you suspect that I think I am God. I do not carry any such illusion. I am just like everybody else, except that I firmly believe that impossible is nothing.
Note3: Dr. Saheb kya apko pata hai, I can read minds? God gave me this power after a long tapasya. Arre main to bhool hi gaya tha ki aap bhagwan-ugwan mein vishwas nahi karte. Tapasya ka matlab to jaante hain na? Jo Buddha ne kiya tha?

Atleast you had the courage to follow your dreams in the first place and give it a try. Many of us don't even have that courage. So, you should live your life with your head held high.
But, I am a little disappointed in the way you have tried to shift the reason for doing this on someone else. How ? Why ? I am sure Doctor Sahab can write in his own defence but, to begin with - Was it not your fight ? Were you so over reliant on him ? Please understand one thing - A leader is not made by following those he is supposed to lead ! If you have started something - its your baby..
Just as you had shown the courage to start this venture without caring of what people say, you should also have the courage and maturity to accept your faults and take the whole responsibility on your own. It was your choice to let Doctor Saheb or anyone else join your party. If they joined, they would be joining on your vision not the other way !

Permalink Reply by Shalu Sharma on February 21, 2012 at 1:58pm Gaurav ji, what are you saying. Why should Dr Kumar have to pay? The meeting could have been held in a chai shop for that matter. A kisan party holding a meeting in Maurya Hotel seems little too extravagant, its like managing the UP elections from a 5 star hotel in Delhi, bound to fail.
Neeraj ji, you spent that money to impress, no one asked you to. You sound like a wounded tiger. The expenses shows your inabilities to manage money let alone a political party. Dr Kumar is right, foreign citizens are not allowed to take part in elections that does not mean they can't say "bhasans".
As far as your party is concerned, in my opinion there is little hope. You have to take an agenda. Learn from the UP elections, see which party do best and what was their agendas. I am sure there is room to make a mark, but there are powerful parties which deep pockets. If you don't have money or backing of business people, then don't enter politics. You throw figures, 20000, 12000 these are little amounts by political standards. You have to spend crores, if you don't have then you don't have hope. I am sorry to say this but it is the truth.
Its better you stick with samaj seva for a while and then think of contesting elections. Alternatively, you can join a mainstream political party that is closest to yours and work at the grass root level and work yourself upwards.
This blog is going down to the nitty grity and somewhat personal, if Dr Kumar has objections, then kindly remove or amend the blog.

Permalink Reply by R Singh on February 21, 2012 at 11:02pm Firstly you assumed that he will join your party. Never assume anything until the chickens hatch, If you assume you are not fit to run a party. Having read the there are some "assumptions" can be made about your situation
1. You are not foresighted. You need to be foresighted about your money and affairs.
2. You cannot run a party with only 20000 Rs in the party account.
3.You need to be a good accountant. You had 20000 Rs funds and you spent it in a flash.
What kind of way is this to ask your money back. You said its not nice to ask a guest for money so why beat your chest. Your party was a flop the day it was founded.
Permalink Reply by R Singh on February 21, 2012 at 11:13pm You assumed that he will join your party and fund it. The trouble with us Biharis is that we have become almost dependent on others. Brother you need to come out this attitude and take things in your hand. Money is some thing that no one will give you. Most presidential candidates in the USA are billionaires and fund their own campaigns. You cannot run a party in India on charity and 20000 check.
