Agri-business or agro-based business is become risky in Indian and Bihar context as labour has been migrating from rural areas to urban areas for better opporunity, the cost of living has increased due to industrialization, labour has been expensive, water availability is question mark, weather is also not co-operative, banks hesitate to take risks for financing, if they do finance to landlords then expect their money back by any means! Governement only talks for votes but ground work is not done. The basics of agricultural productivity is depending on proper arrangment of irrigation system, good quality of seeds, labour & agricultural machineries, flexible finance/loan, insurance, proper transport system, electricity/power, marketing channel, price support by governement, proper subsidies by governement, good quality of fertilizers and agro-chemicals at cheaper rate, if these things are controlled, managed, arranged, promoted by central & state government then only we can expect green revolution in India and Bihar as a result food items and products based on agriculture can be competitive in world market thereby increase in forex and participation of multinatonal and growth of local companies concerned with agro-based business as result overall growth in terms of forex, local business, employment. There are lots of opportunity in agri/agro-business in india as it is at initial stage of development. If overall development is expected in agricultural areas then everyone related to this sector has to focus seriously and work together keeking their differences aside. Overall development in agricultural field is key to the success of Bihar.

No study is needed to say that the agricultural infrastructure is at the lowest ebb in our state. The lacunae enlisted by the author are quite a signature of the state of affairs of our farmers. No wonder, improvement on these fronts would provide the desired boost to the economy of state as well as general prosperity of the citizens of the state.
I do hope the incumbent govt. has agriculture in its priorities and plans are afoot to take off as soon as it is reinstated.
@Abhishek ji, you have said rightly but one can not ignore agricultural development which is must for development of Bihar as Bihar has all the potentialities to bring green revolution but it is waiting for whole hearted support by govts without that it is not possible, if you could pinpoint those areas in agriculture where things concerned first with infrastructure that will give idea to other members or people associeted with such kind of work, will certainly help everyone, thanks.

You have quite ably listed the agricultural infrastructure desired to be improved upon. I am re-posting this piece for your understanding:

"irrigation system, good quality of seeds, labour & agricultural machineries, flexible finance/loan, insurance, proper transport system, electricity/power, marketing channel, price support by governement, proper subsidies by governement, good quality of fertilizers and agro-chemicals at cheaper rate".

I did not find it necessary to repeat it in my comment.

regards.
I too support the idea, and if the news is to be believed the govt. too is preparing for it.

Dear friends, I think that there is dearth of knwoledge, experience, so called intellectuality who always claim themselves as educated, literate, professional, knowledgeable and on every topics they leave no stone unturned by giving normal reply or overlapping the discussion or some people also use abusive word and language directly or indirectly but this topic is very important for Bihar development and no one has guts to explain or give their opinion in details. I have just mentioned some related words for 'Green Revolution' but how it will come to Bihar, people must come forward with 100 of suggestions, plans, programmes, ideas but they just ignored although enough time is passed, it was first put on web on 12/09/2010 but sorry to say, it is really pathetic, on the other hand people who are reated to this website always claim as first person to develop Bihar if given chance! I agains invite all my friends and others who are willing to contribute with their intellectual power to furtheren this topic and make sure to take it to the conclusive end, thanking you with best regards. Rajesh K.Pathak
Mr. pathak, You want to know how green revolution ll come to bihar. It can only come with the efforts of govts and america, as it happened in past. Anyone one this site can only write how it ll come and i think one member has already mentioned the necessities for green revolution. Last green revolution was witnessed by western ghats and green revolution2.0 is set to benefit eastern states. As far as you request for suggestion, plans, programmes and ideas are concerned i feel any member is incompetent to provide it. Such responsibility lies with govts. we can only urge or support our govt. to do the required.
Dear Subodh ji, please put all your comment on topic's (Discussion/Blogs)reply/comment although I appreciate your message. This topic of mine is not at all related to politics. But I think this topic need lots of working and thinking as I mentioned before that is why people are not coming forward. They would have suggested preliminary requirements for bringing green revolution, the shape of green revolution, effects of green revolution on other related and unrelated business, state, country, society, people and so on.....
First priority of state got. must be to see how could flood be stopped from destruction of property, lives, fertility of land, once flood is controlled surely there would greater be possibility for revolution in agricultural and agro-business sector.
Preventive measures which aim at reducing the frequency / intensity and impact of floods can be classified as Structural and Non-structural measures., 1)Structural Measures include A) Dams and Reservoirs, B)Detention Basins , C) Embankments, E) Channel improvement , 2)Non-structural measures include A)Flood plain management such as flood plain zoning, B)Flood forecasting and warning C) Disaster management, D)Flood fighting including Public Health Measures, E)Flood insurance .
You seem to be an authority on civil engineering, don't you?

Abhishek ji, Thanks for comment after long pause, Not a authority on civil engineering but a genuine thinker towards development of Bihar, until flood is not stoped development in any sector can not be considered wholesome for Bihar, don't u agree me me?

The most common structural measure in use to counter floods in the region is embankments. Altogether more than 3400 km embankments exist along different rivers in Bihar. In the focus area main rivers are mostly embanked. River Burhi-Gandak is embanked except in the upper reaches. Bagmati is embanked from Dheng bridge to Runnisaidpur and the from Hayaghat to Badalaghat. Khiroi, an important tributary of Bagmati is also embanked. Darbhanga-Bagmati is embanked on left bank in the vicinity of Darbhanga town. Kamala is embanked up to Darjiya. River Kosi is also embanked on both sides. These embankments have seized the wide range migrations of rivers. However, these embankments have some gaps which reduce its effectiveness.
