Have you been asked this question, “Do you speak Bihari”. The answer to the questions is always No or big NO, I DONT SPEAK BIHARI. I find myself telling them that I speak Hindi and not Bihari at home. Yes we do encounter other languages from Bihar but it does not mean I know how to speak it.
Most of the people speak Hindi with varying dialects. As far as I am aware there are Hindi dialects spoken in Bihar such as Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Angika and so on but they are not called "Bihari". I have always maintained that there is no such language as Bihari.
Do you get this questions? Do you speak Bihari?

Permalink Reply by Chandreswer Mishra on March 21, 2012 at 11:34pm I use to speak Bihari (Magahi) and I feel proud talking in Bihari. Every one should adhere to his tradition. It is good for the society and coming generation. There should be a fusion of traditional and modern culture in our life.
