Chandra let face it dude, the money is with the foreign tourist. unless japanese and Thai buddhists dont come where do you expect the money to come from. Locals hardly spend money to make any difference in flow of money.

i can not agree with this view.  airport is not a must for tourism developement.  it is also one of the things among others. advertising is required.  even domestic travelors who arrive by trains are enough to boost up bihar tourism.  no need to look for foreigners.  many pilgrims arrive in gaya airport from thailand, sri lanka etc...

How can tourism flourish in Bihar when there is no international airport. Patna airport is unfit for the operation of big aircraft such as Airbus 320 and Boeing 737. Forget tourism in bihar.

well said, rohini. we should take special measures to attract tourists from buddhist countries to generate maximum revenue.

please read my blog do something constructive to prevent persons like pradip das to destroy bihar's image.

Why only Japanese and Thai tourists? Why not tap the world market? Bihar has the potential to do well. What we need, first, a very proactive Tourism Promotion Board that can plan aggressive campaigns overseas as well as locally. Secondly, we need to have a powerful body to check on cleanliness, quality of service, etc offered by our hotels. Third, a stict check on transport providers is necessary--there are too many thugs and cheats swithin Patna city ready to pounce on tourists and fleece them. And what about cleanliness around places of interest? How do we get rid of beggars that hang around? How do we prevent using busy Patna city pavements  as toilets? A lot of work has to be done also to change the mindset of the local people. Gandagi Patna or baki sahar ke log hi pehlate hein? Kharabi hamhi log me he. Agar log Bihar se dur rehte he, to khud Biharis hi zimedar he. Don't blame anyone, not even the Government. Charity begins from oneself. If each individual becomes responsible, there's no reason why Bihar won't change. First let's start by keeping our environment clean--don't pee or defeacate on roadsides and pavement, stop throwing garbage anywhere, anytime--this can be a beginning towards better outlook for Bihar tourism.
