We Biharis forget one foundamental fact about ourselves. That we are an export oriented people since time immemorial. Emperor Ashoka sent his brother Mahendra and sister Sanghmitra to Sri Lanka in 233 BC. We exported Buddhism and Jainism.Over the course of centuries we exported manpower to all parts of India, Tibet, Cambodia, Indinesia,Burma, Ceylon, China Korea and Japan. We exported Buddhist monks to Greece and Alexandria. In recent timewe have exported to Mauritius,Fiji, West Indies, Surinam. And after 1950s, we exported doctors, engineer, academics too.
So, when one talk of stopping this trend or even bringing Biharis back home, then it goes against the grain of our prefferd habit.I am afraid, no one will be coming back Reason ? Well apart rom earnig more, a distinct and vast cultural difference develop over a period of time between the native stock and the expatriat Biharis..
So, no one is coming back. Just keep exporting.

Permalink Reply by Rohini on February 7, 2012 at 1:53am Are you asking us to come back to bihar. you must be out of your mind. Thank god my dad got out of India and came to the USA. coming to India other than holidays is out of the questions let alone living in bihar. no one wants to live in a place like Bihar. we aint coming back.
Permalink Reply by Shalu Sharma on February 7, 2012 at 12:28pm There are many doctors who choose to stay behind in Bihar. I have relatives (doctors) who moved to the UK and USA but many choose to stay behind and work in Bihar. A few even came back to Bihar after living a few years in the UK. So lets not get carried away by saying that Bihar is not a place you want to live. Its all down to perception and how you see your motherland.
Permalink Reply by Rajesh K.Pathak on February 7, 2012 at 12:49pm Hhahahahah what a topic! Export the state! Dr.Saheb, we expect some topic related to healthcare and how to develop, maintain, promote a techno-commecial angle to bring a brand in the sector to spead in India and overseas. It is old saying 'men are like horse means men has to keep on running for their livelihood wherever they see grass and water they stay. Modern era is slowly replaced medival and ancient, now people have various kind of education and professional, if they do not find place in Bihar to satisfy their professional and economic thrust surely they must move out from any place or state or country, nothing wrong in that. See there is always class within class.........this is natural............like a student does medicne or surgery eduation from ordinary institution and a student does his same education from top class institute then there is also skills in practice which is gauged on job, so class within class is natural which is based on aptitude, intelligence, earned skill, ability, communication, expetise. We expect some good topic related to medical science or its reforms seeing the Bihar situation. CM says 'people wherever working they must stick there, no need to come leaving their good status and earning power just for the sake of being Bihari' Stiil Bihar has to develop a lot to accommodate people like you otherwise social service or political space is always there for anyone and everyone, choose which suits to you?
As a horse head to green grass, a Bawaji to his Jajmaan and Majnu to the rendezvous point to meet his Laila, so we Biharis head to where opportunities are for a better life ( and sometimes a better non-Bihari wife).
