I am a Bihari by birth so it breaks my heart to say that Bihar sucks big time. I was born in Patna to Bihari parents. I still have relative all over Bihar and Jharkhand. I am extremely proud to be Bihari. But I must say that Bihar sucks.
There are many reasons for that. Frequent power cuts, no electricity in my ancestral native village of Munger district, crime, caste violence and politics, rampant poverty, child malnutrition etc. not to mention that there is extreme corruption and lack of political will to develop BIhar. Most Biharis leave the state for further education and employment as there are hardly any opportunities in the state.
I have been given the right to say all this because I am a Bihari by all means and I am allowed to say this if I feel like it. I do not tolerate such things when it is said by a non Bihari and try to defend my state with good things like family values and what Bihar was in the past. But time has come to bring it out in the open. As other states of India is making progress Bihar lags behind. People of Bihar are not respected in India and they are seen with suspicion. Most educated biharis prefer to leave Bihar and live elsewhere. Also low paid workers are humiliated and killed in places such as assam.

Permalink Reply by Shalu Sharma on April 29, 2011 at 7:06pm Bihar does not suck. There may be a few problems with Bihar at the moment but that does imply that Bihar sucks in any way. There are indeed developmental issues such as non-availability of energy, lack of infrastructure or investment and major inferiority complex within the people. I am sure Bihar will emerge out of this dark period with a vengeance; it’s a matter of time. I cannot comment on the politicians who no doubt have taken the people of Bihar for a big roller coaster ride. But the road ahead is full of opportunity for the current government to make a difference.

Lately, Bihar has made superb all round progress in almost every field -- mainly law and administration. It has become prosperous as well. Rapid increase in the property rates in Bihar, more so in Patna, more than proves that Bihar is developing at an amazing rate. Some problems still remain but we would get the better of them pretty soon. So, please do not panic and get your facts right, Rohini!

Permalink Reply by sanjay kumar pandey on April 30, 2011 at 8:49am Rohini, you seriously need some help. Please consult a good doctor before it is too late. Being a Bihari like you, I am really concerned about you and feel for you. Your entire system seems to be in the grip of some mysterious and life-threatening disease. The fall out which is that you have lost all sense of mental balance and become focused on only negative issues -- most of which don't exist in the first place.

Whatever, one thing is sure Dr Ajay that being in medical profession, nobody knows better than you that when one is suffering from hallucinations and imaginary and self-created fears, he needs to consult a good doctor immediately. So, please do the needful!

Go to a government office and try getting a work done. Say you do not give "Ghoos" ( Bribe). Forget office, ask your Mukhiya to sign a paper or approve someting. The askng rate of their "autograph" is Rs. 1000/-. Even our cricketers and Bollywood stars don't charge for their autographs !!
No doubt, Bihar is developing at an amazing rate. Please watch the video someone has posted of teachers teaching our kids. And if this is what next generation of Biharis are going to be, then yes, we will be progressing...progressing towards oblivion.

Permalink Reply by CHALU CHAMAR on April 30, 2011 at 11:26am Wow Rohini is telling us something really new.
Except her every other Bihari is sinner. She is simply posting such stories to create anxiety & generate comments. She is trying to keep the discussion going for obvious reason, because she is fake. She is not Rohini.
Every Bihari knows how bad or good Bihar has been.
So,guys just ignore, instead of innocently getting dragged into such mindless discussions.
