I am a Bihari by birth so it breaks my heart to say that Bihar sucks big time. I was born in Patna to Bihari parents. I still have relative all over Bihar and Jharkhand. I am extremely proud to be Bihari. But I must say that Bihar sucks.
There are many reasons for that. Frequent power cuts, no electricity in my ancestral native village of Munger district, crime, caste violence and politics, rampant poverty, child malnutrition etc. not to mention that there is extreme corruption and lack of political will to develop BIhar. Most Biharis leave the state for further education and employment as there are hardly any opportunities in the state.
I have been given the right to say all this because I am a Bihari by all means and I am allowed to say this if I feel like it. I do not tolerate such things when it is said by a non Bihari and try to defend my state with good things like family values and what Bihar was in the past. But time has come to bring it out in the open. As other states of India is making progress Bihar lags behind. People of Bihar are not respected in India and they are seen with suspicion. Most educated biharis prefer to leave Bihar and live elsewhere. Also low paid workers are humiliated and killed in places such as assam.

Permalink Reply by Arun Jha on May 10, 2011 at 12:37pm I feel that Bihar does 'suck'; and what is needed are educated, motivated Biharis to come back to Bihar and see what they can do for this place they call their own.
My late father, Dr. Pitambar Jha, after completing his Doctorate (MA, PhD) in the Sanskrit language; moved to work in the 'Kaivalyadhama' Yoga Research Institute in Lonavla in Pune district of Maharashtra state in India. I was born and brought up in Lonavla itself; and studied in Don Bosco, Lonavla and in Fergusson College, Pune before going on for my Military training in NDA, Khadakwasla near Pune. As fate (destiny) apparently desired; I survived a SEVERE Head Injury in Nov 1993 in which my Skull was fractured in 23 places and I was in Coma for 20 days. Still, again - as fate (destiny) apparently desired - I survived and retained my abilities sufficiently well - enough to continue in my service.
I got married to a girl from Patna - originally from a village in Madhubani district; and did the Basic Course of the 'Art of Living' (AOL) when I was posted in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh state in India. Through these Courses; HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar effectively motivates all people - fortunate enough to do the courses - to think on the lines of what they can do for their society.
Over these more than NINE years; certain definite plans have evolved thru me for leveraging the strengths of the fertile land in Bihar state. The land in the PLAINS of Bihar (particularly North Bihar spanning more than 50 thousand SQ Km) is very fertile due to the silt deposited by the rivers flowing thru the mountains of Nepal over the years. These rivers are the melting Himalayan Glaciers; and this melting of the Himalayan glaciers is guaranteed to continue in the coming times (years, decades and centuries).
The plans being routed thru me by the grace of Guruji (HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) envisage leveraging the naturally given strengths of Bihar for enhancing the Food Security of India. You can see the details of the plans as they have been evolving thru me since I started posting them as Comments on various related topics by typing "Plans for enhancing the Food Security of India".
God (and Gurudev) willing; you will certainly get to physically see these plans being implemented within around three years from now.

Can you throw some light how the AOL would benefit Bihar & also throw light on Organic development of Bihar.

Permalink Reply by Maurya on May 10, 2011 at 5:48pm wow wow wow… you seem to be a complete anti-Bihar and so full of negative vivbes and feelings abouit our state. Your might have all the right intentions but sorry to say, your this post seemed to be in a poor taste.
And, please do a favor - don't call yourself a bihari if you don't feel like one.

Permalink Reply by Khan Mohammad Ashraf on May 11, 2011 at 12:08am Bihar does not suck. There may be a few problems with Bihar at the moment but that does imply that Bihar sucks in any way. There are indeed developmental issues such as non-availability of energy, lack of infrastructure or investment and major inferiority complex within the people. I am sure Bihar will emerge out of this dark period with a vengeance; it’s a matter of time. I cannot comment on the politicians who no doubt have taken the people of Bihar for a big roller coaster ride. But the road ahead is full of opportunity for the current government to make a difference.
@ Ashraf Bhai,
Please put the newspaper and Bihar's development reoport down, lift your head and look around, the people, ther poverty, living condition and their deprivation from this so called 11% growth, looreply. k at infrastructure. Now, go back in time to six years and compare. Do you find any difference ? Any change ? Any improvement ? Be honest and post reply. But for God sake, don't say it will take time because this is the universal answer given by all. Six years is a long time to be in politics and power. One change the world. So be honestand say, do you realyy and realistically belive that any significant development has taken place ?

Permalink Reply by Arun Jha on May 11, 2011 at 1:37pm Rather than being so very critical of things around us; I feel it would be better to think on the lines of WHAT WE CAN CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS IMPROVING THE SITUATION in our own small way. Okay; things ARE bad, but all is not lost. Life still goes on... That's what HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also tells us...
Stop being so pessimistic; and critical of things around you. A Solution, if any, would be expected to be coming from among us; the denizens of this piece of land on planet Earth...

Rather than saying how; I feel it would be better as and when the benefits and effects of the courses of the AOL become visible in Bihar. Courses of the AOL are already being conducted in prisons in Bihar - as also in most other states in India - and changes of this kind become visible in a slightly long time frame.
