The Bhagavad Gita is the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna prior to a battle. The enlightenment scripture of the Indo-Aryan revelation from about 3000 years ago written in Sanskrit. Its philosophical insights form the bedrock of the Hindu belief system was even praised by Albert Einstein.

Some adherents of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tomsk in Siberia want their Hindus out. They don’t like the Bhagavad Gita. The translation of “Bhagavad Gita as It Is,” by ISKON up for trial is central to the global Hare Krishna movement. Members of the movement think that the case against the text is to limit their activities by the Russian Orthodox Church. However, the Russian government which regrets this non-secular behavior of its citizens and wants to make its Hindu residents at home since the constitution of the Russian Federation grants and protects the religious rights of Man and Citizen.

This is not the first time Hindus has been insulted. Cambridge has closed the door on Sanskrit when Cambridge University was honoring Manmohan Singh with a doctorate in Oct 2005. In 2006 leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Nikon called the Hindu God, Lord Krishna an ‘"an evil demon, the personified power of hell opposing God", and "a livid lascivious youth" around the time of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan’s state visit.

India and Russia enjoy close diplomatic and defense ties and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned from an annual visit to Moscow at the weekend. Some MPs demanded to know if he had raised the issue of the trial with Russian officials.

But since India is ruled by a Sikh PM and an Italian Roman Catholic with numerous Muslim advisors, can we expect them to defend Hindu interests. Is there a hidden agenda to demean Hindu culture and civilization and impose Christian values on India? According to some, the Bible too has violent and many sexual references so should it be banned in India?

Its our Indian people duty to come forward and give pressure to gov to stop Russia as behaving like this. I m sure Russia have to stop because India is the biggest weapon buyer. And they have to listen us. These days every thing is business. I request All Indian to b together better blaming any one.

We should keep the pressure on other wise the Anti-Hindu Congress government run by non-Hindus will annihilation Hindu culture from the face of the planet.

The trouble with Hindus is that they prefer to be ruled by foreigners. They are used to their temples and idols smashed to pieces, their holy books burnt and their women taken to far away lands to be used as sex slaves. Lord save this country.

Religion is a matter of personal choice.Period. No God made religion. It was we humans who interpreted God's message in different ways and started our own faith and belief. Nothing wrong in it.

Everybody in this world should be free to practice any religion they chose. Anyone or any community which forcefully tries to ban others from following their religious practices are wrong and deserve to be condemned and punished in the strictest measures.

But, just because a bunch of ignorant people or community who happen to be "christians" have protested against "Bhagwad Gita" should we assume that is the stance of the whole Christian community ? No - definitely not. Lets just call them just that ...ignorants.. without giving them any religious blankets..

Even in our country we had in the past seen some dreadful incidents in Orissa and Kerala where groups of christian women and children were burnt alive by some "ignorant people" who allegedly were hindus. Do they represent common hindus like you or me ? No.. never.. I would never accept any argument that promotes violence against anyone...

As a long time friend, it is time for Russia to prove to India and Indians that they will not let injustice happen... I am more than 100% sure this ban will never happen but I can't explain why this gimmick started in the first place at all ?

Read the Russian ambassador's views on this topic - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Bhagwad-Gita-controversy-R...

Unless a pro-Hindu party comes to power we cannot expect anything from this government.

Russia logic -Lord krishna was himself a russia(hindi word rusiya) so how can any one ban Bhagwat geeta in rusiya ( russia).

We need to campaign to ban the bible.

Dear Singh jee,

In one of the other discussions titled "Does God exist" I quote your statement -

There is no god. Only the weak and feeble belief in this kind of stuff.

My question then to you is, when you don't believe in "God" and you think this belief is only  for weak and feeble, why are you upset about the so called ban on "Bhagwat Geeta" and proposing a campaign to ban the bible ? Am I missing something here ?

I quoted your text and spoke with you with dignity and respect. I don't claim to be enlightened.. neither I claim that I don't make mistakes.. But, if I do make mistakes, I make sure to admit them.. and learn from them.

I have nothing personal against you but, you should learn to take criticism positively brother... thats all I have to say.. Some of your statements are not only dangerous, they violate the terms and conditions of this site and is also against the constitution of India and you could be booked against it.

The Gita teaches a human being values of Life. If somebody like Abdul Kalam can read it, I do not find any problem in providing it a national status. And for those who have problems with Hinduism and their beliefs, their thoughts can restrict it to themselves.

Sumit bhai boor maat kijiye. You sound like Diggi raja.
